Hyoid bone sits low - How does this affect my neck lift and deep plane facelift results?

I was surprised to find out that my hyoid bone sits low. How does this affect my necklift and deep plane facelift results? Do I have to accept my anatomy or can I change it? Is this common? Thank you kindly in advance.

A low set hyoid bone determines the acuteness of angle of your neck after a neck lift. During a deep plane neck lift, a platysmaplasty, or short scar neck lift this structure plays a role. There are ways to improve the acuteness of the angle of your neck, when deep plane facelift or neck lift is performed. But the higher the hyoid bone anatomy wise sits, the better. I hope this helps.

A low hyoid refers to a lower position of the hyoid bone, to which many of the muscles of deglutition, swallowing, and lower neck straining attach.  In terms of appearance, it will give the individual a more oblique neck angle, especially with skin laxity and platysmal banding.  Although the position of the hyoid cannot be safely elevated, the angle between the neck and chin can be deepened to a more acute angle, giving better neck definition.  This describes the "deep neck lift" which can be performed during a deep plane facelift
