This response was dictated using Word recognition. My apologies for any grammatical errors. I’m not a big fan of high definition, a.k.a. etching type Liposuction. Very few people are true candidates for the procedure and even if they are with the results typically look terrible. High definition typically only works on slim athletic individuals with tight skin. It is an irreversible operation. Fat transfer is unlikely to work to correct your outcome Because the areas where you need fat are devoid of “host tissue” to support the grafted fat. Attempts at grafting fat in treated areas tends to lead to graft failure with increased scar tissue and lumpy outcomes. Getting Liposuction is basically like getting a tattoo. Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. Unfortunately, there has been a trend to do this kind of work. There’s a certain plastic surgeon from South America, who is promoting aggressive use of VASER with high definition as the standard of care. Unfortunately, results end up, looking like your pictures I think any plastic surgeon who thinks it’s easy to correct your outcome should probably be rejected. It may be possible to have slight improvements, but The improvements will be subtle and most likely would require multiple operations. In reality, I think your best course of action is to accept the outcome for what it is and recognize that your surgeon did not know what they were doing. I’m sorry you find yourself in this situation and I wish I could be more optimistic. It is my goal to help people from making bad choices, especially regarding Liposuction and ending up being disfigured. For those considering Liposuction, I generally recommend people start the process by having multiple in person consultations with plastic surgeons in your community seem to have extensive experience with Liposuction. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patient, so have similar body characteristics to your own period Bring pictures of your own body to use as reference when reviewing before and after pictures. Do not rely your memory or looking in mirrors. Liposuction is a major component to understanding what your results are going to look like. Patient candidacy and provider selection are the two single most important variables. Being shown handful of preselected images representing only the best results of a providers career may be insufficient to get a clear understanding of what results look like in the hands of each provider. And provider should have access preferably before, and after pictures. They should be able to show you lots and lots and lots of before and after pictures of people who look just like you do. Take notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the better provider for your needs. I generally recommend virtual consultations. The biggest mistake I see patients having only one consultation and then scheduling surgery. The second biggest mistake I see patients make is assuming that board certified plastic surgeons with several years of experience and multiple positive reviews has mastered most plastic surgical procedures. This is simply not true. Delivering consistent quality Liposuction results is far more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surge of truly mastered this procedure is quite small. When in doubt, slow down and schedule more consultations. I’m sorry this happened to you and wish I could be more helpful. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
