Any ideas for treatments for scar tissue on inner top lip?

Hi, I had an accident where I split my upper lip, oct 2021. I had it stiches up as was a deep cut. I now have scar tissue on the inner top lip which can make it numb sometimes. Went to my GP and told to massage it, I have been doing this regularly and I feel I am just making it more inflamed. Any ideas what treatments I can do? Any creams that may help with this? little lump where the scar is

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

From the history, I can conjecture that the lump that is disressing is a ball of scar tissue--i.e. a hypertrophic scar. If this is indeed so, then the intralesional injection of an anti-inflammatory agent, such as triamcinolone in an appropriate concentration and amount would likely not only diminish the lump, but address the dysesthesia being experienced. Topical creams are unlikely to penetrate sufficiently to be of any use. Make sure to consult an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Best of luck.

It’s not simple this one. Scottish on the inside of the mouth is noticeable for two reasons one because it tends to be a little lumpy and two because the degree of acuity of sensation we have on the inside of our mouth and our tongue is extremely high. Even small amounts of atypical scar can stand out to us. Given your injury was less than a year ago my advice would be to wait for 12 months to to pass. Paragraph this carcass tissue can be revised i.e. excised and stitched again if there’s anything noticeably adverse about it but this will inevitably create 12 months of new scar formation and remodelling. Just like when we have any other change to the inside of my mouth, if you give it long enough your brain we are customs to the new shape and you will probably forget that you ever had an injury.
