African decent female, 40 yrs , thick skin, had rhinoplasty in Turkey less than a year ago. Recently learned of steroid injections and looking for another surgeon to administer injections if I am a good candidate. The bedside manner of my original surgeon is horrible, I can’t go back there. Would other surgeons be willing to accept me as a patient? I think I have supratip beak. If revision is needed can it be done to only the tip without taking more rib cartilage (I like my bridge).
Answer: Yes Hi Evaforever. You should definitely be able to find a surgeon who is willing to see you for steroid injections. I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience with your first surgeon. As for doing a revision surgery and addressing the tip concerns, that is hard to say for sure without evaluating you and knowing what exactly was done to your nose. Good luck!

Answer: Steroid injections may work but not for everyone Hello, there are 2 main reasons for the heights in the supratip region. The first of these is the collection of thick skin in this area. In this case, getting a steroid injection will be a partial solution. The second reason is the loss of projection of the tip of the nose and its convergence towards the face. Since the tip of the nose loses projection, the supratip region remains relatively high. In this case, having a supratipe steroid injection will not be successful. It may be possible to correct only the tip of the nose surgically. but many doctors can't promise you that they can fix it without getting a rib. I agree. that is, I try to fix the tip of the nose without getting a rib, but I can't promise. get well soon

Answer: Rhinoplasty Follow Up As a facial plastic surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty I think it's most appropriate to have the original surgeon manage follow up care. If this is not something you want to pursue as a patient, then the next best option is to seek consultation with other expert rhinoplasty surgeons in your area, meaning surgeons that focus on facial plastic surgery or rhinoplasty in particular. It may require meeting more than one surgeon to determine a level of trust and this may unfortunately require multiple upfront consultation fees before you find the right person for you. But it's worth the effort to find somebody you trust to take over care of you and your surgery. Depending on how long it has been since your surgery (i.e. 4-6 weeks vs. 6-12 months) your new surgeon may recommend, further waiting for healing, low dose steroid injections, or planning a revision surgery. I wish you luck in your journey and ultimate recovery. This is a stressful time for you, but I will advice that patience is extremely important to building a strong relationship and having a good final outcome since rushing revision rhinoplasty surgery can be a catastrophic decision.
