I’m 27 years old and I had a rhinoplasty done in South Korea in December of 2021. An I shaped silicon implant was used to add height and definition to my nose. A few days shot I noticed a red patch form over my nasal bridge. I’m experiencing no pain or excess swelling in my nose. Just this tiny red patch. I think it could be a result of a strong reaction to chemical exfoliation used. In General my skin all over my face has been really dry and peeling? Is this an infection or overexfoliation
Answer: What to expect after African American Rhinoplasty with silicone implant Hi livlou20, In the absence of other signs and symptoms of infections, which you astutely excluded, it's reasonable to observe the redness for now and be more gentle with the skincare routine in the interim. If you do develop pain, tenderness, increasing tenderness, redness or drainage, then further examination is warranted - either by your surgeon or a surgeon in closer proximity to you. Warm regards

Answer: Silicon Implant - Ethnic Rhinoplasty Hello from Istanbul! While silicone implants have their merits, they are foreign materials, and they can sometimes result in complications like infection or rejection by the body. Without a direct examination, it's difficult to determine the specific issue you're facing, and I would strongly recommend consulting with your original surgeon for an accurate assessment. In my practice, I often use rib cartilage and muscle fascia for augmenting the nasal bridge. This approach not only yields a softer, more natural result but is also generally considered to be a healthier option since the materials are sourced from your own body. Best of luck!

Answer: Is this the first sign of infection of silicone implant after rhinoplasty? An infected dorsal nasal silicone implant does start with redness and usually pain and swelling. If you're not spontaneously better after overexfoliation, please seek consultation with a reputable rhinoplasty specialist for assistance, and certainly let your surgeon see you photos. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Answer: This might be foreign body reaction to silicom implant Hello, this type of infection (foreign body reactions) may occur in silicone implants placed in the nose. this area of redness may heal on its own and may redden again in a few weeks. Recurrent redness and swelling on the skin of the nose are indications that a foreign body reaction has developed against the silicone implant there. Sometimes the condition progresses too far and inflammation begins to flow from the nose. In this case, a very bad smell occurs for the nose. What you need to do is to use antibiotics as soon as you feel this rash. As I understand it, you suspect that a cream exfoliation chemicals that you also use on the skin have done this. but if the exfoliative creams you use on your skin did this, you would have redness elsewhere on your face as well. however, only the development of redness in the nose suggests that there is a foreign body reaction developed against silicone. One time or more redness of the nose does not mean that it will recur in a lifetime. sometimes after a few rashes everything is fine and the problem does not occur again. sometimes, on the contrary, recurrent rashes and infections never end and it may be necessary to remove that silicone from there.
