Botox and Fillers for Facial Slimming - will this work to improve my face shape? (photos)

Thank you for your question. You may benefit from a combination of facial filler and neuromodulator treatments to improve your facial symmetry. Facial fillers such as Restylane can augment the chin to sculpt and define the jawline, while neuromodulators like Dysport can relax the masseter muscles to produce a more v-like facial shape. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon to help you develop a treatment plan that would help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Botulinum toxin effect to the messeter muscle is very effective and in my experience dose dependent, so for your first treatment if you are worried about it being too much, we can inject a more conservative dose and watch for the effect and adjust for the future. Any availble botulinum toxin will work for 2 to 3 months so reinjection is needed for sure to maintain the effect.

Hi Victoria, Botox in the Masseter does have a slimming effect of the face from a stright-on view. Seek a provider who has experience with this type of injection. If over-done, it can weaken your masseter to the point that it can be difficult to chew. Start with a conservative dose and titrate up. Masseter botox should not effect your jawline on profile view.
Filler in the chin can help with jawline definition and add to the V- shape you are after, if done correctly. Hope this helps and good luck.

This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. Buccal fat pad gives slimming not symmetry. Masseter botox will make you slimmer and make the jawline more loose. Fillers help give shaping and contouring. If you want perfect or close to perfect symmetry you need maxillofacial surgery or implants customized. I suggest seeing an expert to go through all options. Most of my younger clients use fillers to give them shaping especially on the cheeks, jawline, and chin which make the face look more slim and tight; and threads such as PDO or Instalift can build collagen and support the facial shaping and skin looseness over time, slowing down the aging process and given the face a more “snatched” look; and morpheus8 or PiXel8 deep microneedling RF can tighten crepe skin especially on the neck and jawline and is great for long term tightening of the full face, neck and chest; its often used to give the face a slimmer more sculpted look because it tightens the skin and gives lift. an early face lift can be performed as well even in younger clients if they want a different facial shape, maxillofacial surgery with bone breaking or shaving can also be done. Botox and other neuromodulators (like Xeomin, Dysport and Jeuveau) can be used for slimming of the masseter muscles. The treatment typically entails 3-4 injections on each side, with 12-20 units per side, then reassessment in 2-3 weeks; more can be added if desired.
You can palpate your face and feel the masseter muscles on the outer lower jaw when you clench your jaw.
I am not sure how it would affect your jawline specifcally, but you are correct, filler can be used to further delineate the jawline. I'd recommend taking baby steps and getting an in-person consultation to better assess the situation.

Dear Victoria, Lower face slimming can be achieved by injecting botox into masseter muscle especially if masseter muscle hypertrophy or enlargement is causing lower face widening. Another place to inject botox is the chin muscle if you have dimpling of the chin. Chin filler and proper jaw line contouring can also slim lower face into a more V shaped look. Another option to consider is to add PDO threads for more of a lift. The key is to balance your upper, mid and lower face to have appropriate proportions so make sure to go to an experienced injector.

From your photo it appears you are a good candidate for masseter Botox. This will help to temporarily slim the jawline. You can consider filler for the chin as well but since it's your first treatment for the Botox you may want to wait two weeks in between treatments. This will allow you time to see the effects of the Botox to help you decide if you want treatment for the chin.

Hello, and thanks for your question. Botox works to paralyze the muscle which in turn can make the muscle shrink, but you may not see drastic results.
