My smile has changed after Juvederm 1 ml lip fillers. Is it permanent?

A significant amount of swelling is  present in the days immediately following treatment, and this swelling can have an effect on the smile. It is best to wait up to 2 weeks before making an assessment of your final result. Once 2 weeks has passed and the final result is evident, hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve the filler if necessary. In general, Juvederm is temporary and eventually absorbed by the body. Thank you for your question in regards to Juvederm. Juvederm is not permanent and will dissolve in 9-12 months on its own and your lips will return to their natural state. To be sure, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question.  To answer your question, Juvederm is not permanent and will gradually be absorbed by your body to leave you with your preexisting lip appearance if allowed to completely resolve.  As far as your current results I would recommend allowing them to mature for at least two weeks after treatment as this will permit the filler to soften and any swelling to improve.  If you do not like your results at two weeks, the Juvederm can be dissolved with another medication called hyaluronidase.  

If you are worried about your smile, you can reverse the fillers with hyaluronidase and it will go back to your normal shape/size.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The lips are very sensitive, so swelling will take up to a week to go away completely after Juvederm injections.  The swelling can make your smile feel restricted and almost distorted in some patients.  This will go away as the swelling comes down and your smile will go back to normal.  Thanks for reaching out. Juvéderm typically lasts up to nine months. Sometimes it can last a little longer. The change that you see should go away with time. Alternatively you can use Hyaluronidase to dissolve the  Juvéderm that's there.I hope this helps :)

Hello, and thanks for your question. I'm sorry you did not get the result you had hoped for. Post-filler swelling can take 1-2 weeks to fully subside, so it may be early to assess your final result. If you are not pleased with your final result, the product can be dissolved with injection of an enzyme called hyaluronidase.To maximize the likelihood of a favorable outcome, I recommend that you only get treated by a well-trained and experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Hope this opinion is helpful to you. I always tell my patients to not love their filler
injections for 2 weeks. Swelling is very common and sometimes immediate. It can
last 3-7 days and a good idea is to use cold compresses. Cold compresses may be
used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. This may be
applied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is best done
with a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to the area but
gentle massage might be necessary if the bump is from the filler material
itself. Get Arnica gel if you can find some and apply a few times a day as well
to help treat any swelling. Avoid any blood thinners. Bruising can also last
1-2 weeks. I don't recommend hyaluronidase this early and wait a few weeks
until the swelling has resolved. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up
a follow up appointment with your dermatologist.

You are still very early from the injection. Let things settle out for 10 days. If not happy at that time, you can have it dissolved. It is not permanent so don't worry about that. Most people get used to the filler in about a week.
