Scar after rounds of electrocautery, er:yag and cortisone injections. How can this be improved? (Photo)
Hello everyone, I had this raised dark mole on my back (right over my scapula) and I had it removed around 6 years ago with electrocautery as the doctor said surgical removal would risk scarring. However, the mole partially came back so they did another round of electrocautery. This time, it left a slightly hypertrophic and brownish scar that didn't go away for around 4 years. Afterwards, they did er:yag on this spot and other moles. The other moles are healing completely fine, but this particular spot became swollen all of a sudden (no pain at all, blanching, pink and raised) so they recommended cortisone injections. The cortisone seems to have worked for flattening, even making it a little atrophic at this point but nothing too obvious (I just hope it doesn't become deeper). However, the muted pink color is still there and it blanches a fair amount when pressed. At this point I just think I should go ahead with surgical removal. I know this is long and I'm sorry. What should I do? Vbeam, etc for color or just surgical removal? Thank you
