Hi doctor, What is the best treatment for hair folliculitis. My doctor prescribed augmetin, I am 10 weeks post hair transplant operation.
Answer: Your doctor The best treatment is what your doctor recommends. Only your doctor knows your particular history and your situation. There is no "best" answer. Typically most doctors may not even prescribe antibiotic but this also depends on the exam. If indeed you have a bacterial infection, the antibiotic of choice is dependent on the bacteria. Different areas around the world / city/ hospitals/ clinics have certain common bacteria that can be the culprit. Sometimes you may have MRSA (rare but I've seen it happen). In that case Augmentin is not the choice. The point of all this is FOLLOW YOUR DOCTOR'S RECOMMENDATION.

Answer: Folliculits Treatment The best is to wait until they pop up by themselves. However, if they are bothering you, you need to see your hair transplant doctor to incise them (cut them open) by tiny needles. Most cases of follliculitis don't need antibiotics unless they become infected in which they present with painful spots with a larger area of redness around them.

Answer: Folliculitis after a hair transplant Most people who complain of folliculitis, don't really have it. First, you need to be followed by your doctor who, in this case, put you on Augmentin. There are warm wet soaks that are important to do while it is healing. See your doctor for followup
