No, but it didn’t stop Spike TV from saying so. An episode of 1000 Ways to Die, titled “Titty Titty, Bang Bang,” showed a woman who exploded on a flight to Vegas when the liquid in her implants expanded. If this were true, wouldn’t many Hollywood actresses have exploded by now?MythBusters, a more scientifically sound television program, had busted that myth years earlier. Their research team put implants in a hypobaric chamber, recreated the altitude at 35,000 feet, and observed that the implants expanded insignificantly. Other researchers took breast implants on a simulated trip from the bottom of the ocean to the top of Mount Everest, and the implants still didn’t burst. This means that if you went to 35,000 feet in an unpressurized airplane, your implants would be safe. Unfortunately, you would be dead in about 10 minutes from hypoxia (oxygen deficiency).
There are no problems from cabin pressure with breast implants. This is an urban myth that stems from a practical joke several years ago where an email was sent to Qantas cabin crew. Resting dance are completely safe on aeroplane, once you have recovered properly from your surgery. Be advised by you surgeon how long you should wait before returning to work.
There are many rumours related to breast implants and this is just another one.The answer is NO, flying would not cause your implant to burst.
First of all, thank you for your question. As many of the other plastic surgeons mention cabin pressures will not affect me integrity of the breast implants. Best of luck in your quest for Breast augmentation !
Hi there,It is a common myth that implants can explode with cabin pressure. It is NOT TRUE!!!Almost all women fly in planes after breast implants and many airline employees have implants.Good luckRichard
Thank you for the question. Breast implants are not effected by altitude or high pressure. We have many patients flying in for surgery for breast augmentation and they are able to fly home within a few days. During the recovery period, it is important to avoid any heavy-lifting and strenuous activity for the first few weeks after surgery to avoid discomfort and/or complications. I hope this, and the attached link helps. Best wishes.
There are many urban legends around with respect to breast implants. This is one of them. Your implants Will not ruptured or break at altitude during the early postoperative. You may feel or experience some air which has been left in the pocket from surgery. But these feelings are normal and are not indicative of any problems with the surgery
Thank you for your question. Changes in And pressure on an aircraft will not affect your breast implants. Many Women crew members fly every day after breast implants and do not have problems.
It doesn't appear to be an outright bleed that needs urgent attention but I would see your physician. Ice at this time would be beneficial and then a prescription drug call Singular used for allergies would be helpful to prevent capsular contracture which can be induced from excessive inflammation.
During breast implant surgery a #pocket is created carefully to maintain certain folds on the sides and bottom of the breast. Occasionally, the space for the breast implant becomes too large on the #side of the chest or the tissue stretches and the implants fall too much to the side. This is...
Thank you for the question.Yes, I have taken care of several patients who have had renal transplants in the past. This is best done after communication with the patient's physicians who know her best. Best wishes.
