It doesn't appear to be an outright bleed that needs urgent attention but I would see your physician. Ice at this time would be beneficial and then a prescription drug call Singular used for allergies would be helpful to prevent capsular contracture which can be induced from excessive inflammation.
The bruising that you display in the photograph you sent to RealSelf is not massive. On the other hand, any bruising indicates blood having been around your implant, and blood around the implant can be one of the major causes for implants getting hard (capsular contracture). If you were my patient, I would recommend DMSO as this liquid can open choke vessels, therefore increasing the number of white blood cells to go in and remove the free heme in your tissue. Also, post operative ultrasound (the kind physical therapists use for sore muscles) can decrease the amount of new collagen deposited around a breast implant, therefore once again decreasing the chance of a capsular contracture. Finally, the use of Accolate prophylactically has also been shown to decrease the chance of a capsular contracture. As for your bruising, I would suggest you discuss it with your Board Certified plastic surgeon and ask what his or her recommendations would be.
Bruising indicates bleeding at the time of surgery. Ideally bruising is minimal with augmentation. The concern is if there is a significant amount of blood around the implant. Clinically the breasts may be swollen or firm and tender. Ultrasound can determine if there is blood surrounding the implant. If it is significant, the blood should be drained. Hematoma has been associated with capsular contractures.
Thanks so much for your question. I would contact your plastic surgeon. It may be fine but things depend on your personal medical history, what was done in the operating room, how the actually surgery went, ect. They would know better than anyone if there might be a problem.
suggest blood in your tissue and not a hematoma (which would be much more concerning). To help bruising resolve faster, I employ warm compresses for my patients (as opposed to icing as mentioned by another) after day 3 and if using a heating pad, make sure it won't burn you. If you are experiencing pains and increasing breast size, you need to see your surgeon asap.
During breast implant surgery a #pocket is created carefully to maintain certain folds on the sides and bottom of the breast. Occasionally, the space for the breast implant becomes too large on the #side of the chest or the tissue stretches and the implants fall too much to the side. This is...
Thank you for the question.Yes, I have taken care of several patients who have had renal transplants in the past. This is best done after communication with the patient's physicians who know her best. Best wishes.
Elena, in a situation like you describe is more likely that you felt the implant move downward within the pocket, from a position where it may have become displaced while you were sleeping. Implant settling into place is generally a slow process during which time the soft tissue support...
