Can I lose breast fat after gaining weight about 2 years after breast reduction?

Question

Hi, I got a breast reduction on July 18, 2022. Unfortunately I've gained about 30 lbs since the beginning of this year due to medications and have been having a hard time losing it, I'm about the same weight I was when I had my first consultation. My breasts have grown due to the weight gain but aren't as big as they were before my reduction. Is it likely that I can lose the breast fat I gained by losing weight? Other info: F22 by end of July, 5'5", 140 - 150 lbs

Some patients notice changes in their breast size when they gain or lose weight while others do not.  As you mentioned that you noticed increase in breast size with weight gain, there is a possibility that you will notice a decrease in breast size with weight loss.

Hello and thank you for your question. Sometimes breasts can change with weight gain and loss.  If you tried losing weight and have not seen a change you may need a secondary reduction to reduce the size again. I wish you the best!

If you have gained weight in your breasts, when you lose weight it is likely to come off of your breasts as well. Before I pursued any type of breast re-reduction or other procedure I would recommend getting back down to your goal weight.

Thank you for your query. During reduction a lot of fat cells and glands are removed from the breast. When you gain weight after reduction, although the fat cells increase in size , the fat gain in the breasts will be less than the rest of the body, as the number of cells is less. You will, of course lose weight in your breasts if you lose weight. All the best!

Yes, if your weight gain caused an increase in your breast size, then weight loss should decrease your breast size.
