Hardness around belly button, is that normal after a Tummy tuck?

I'm 3 months post-op, and in the shower today I noticed that the area around my BB and under my BB feels very hard compared to the rest of my stomach. I'm not sure if this is a normal part of the healing process or if I should be consumed, or if there is something I should be doing differently?

After a tummy tuck the area will heal with scar tissue.  This is normal and the tissue feels firm.  The belly button has scar tissue around it as it heals.  This is normal and will resolve.  Good luck

At three months, what you are feeling is fat necrosis which then calcifies and becomes firm. Over the next year, these areas of calcification will continue to soften. Please see examples of tummy tuck patients below.

The lumpiness, swelling, itching and hardness after a tummy tuck surgery like you had typically persists at least 8 weeks after the surgery then slowly goes away. In my experience, daily massage of the hard areas makes the biggest difference in getting rid of it sooner rather than later. It can easily take 6 months or more to see results. Be sure to keep any scheduled follow up appointments you have with your surgeons for his evaluation and advice.
