Hello,Most Plastic Surgeons will advise that you avoid heavy lifting post op. I advise my patients to wait 6 weeks before upper body workouts including heavy lifting. The muscle movement and strain can put you at risk of bleeding or altering your implant positioning. I recommend that you contact your Plastic Surgeon for specific instructions to follow. All the best
Thank you for your question. You should not be lifting anything heavy at one week post-op. It increases the risk of injury and hematoma. This can lead to problems healing and the implants can develop a contracture. You shouldn't be lifting anything greater than 10 pounds for the first 3 weeks. I would recommend contacting your surgeon to review your post-op instructions with you.
Thank you for your question. The general rule of thumb is to refrain from heavy lifting for two weeks after a sub-muscular breast augmentation. The contraction of the muscle can cause the implant to shift. I recommend not lifting anything over 10lbs for two weeks post-op. I hope this helps,
You should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity for six weeks. You may, however, do normal activities at any time if they cause no pain or discomfort. Let your body tell you what you can or cannot do. Aerobic exercise will raise your blood pressure, which could cause late bleeding and harm your result. Once you begin exercising again, start gently and let your body tell you what it can tolerate. Don’t rush!! It may require the full 6 weeks before you can do any upper body work-outs, yoga, etc.As I tell my patients, you make take gentle walks within a few days following your #surgery. Light #activity may be started 7-10 days after surgery. If your work keeps you sedentary, you may return whenever you feel up to it. If your work is strenuous, wait until your work activity does not cause any superficial pain. Let your body tell you what it can tolerate. It is always recommended to call and see your surgeon to discuss your healing concerns.
Thank you for your question. At one week post op you should not be lifting anything over 5-10 lbs. You need to allow your breasts time to heal. Speak with your PS to discuss when you can go back to lifting. Best,
Hello dear,t thanks for your question and provided information as well... I do not recommend any of my patients to lift, pull or push for at least 30 days, even drive is risky, so I do not recommend you to lift anything after 30 days because your implants can move, hugs!
Heavy lifting resulting in chest muscle contractions may cause your implants to shift out of position if the implants were placed below the muscle. It is usually recommended that the patient refrain from any heavy lifting or strenuous activity immediately after their surgery for 1-2 weeks. Discuss your activities with your plastic surgeon and he or she can clear you for those activities or give you more detailed instructions on what you should or should not do in order to maximize your results.
Lifting heavy things will result in your implants pulling up; you need to avoid this maneuver until your implants have been surrounded by a capsule which will keep them in placed; your capsule will be matured over the first four weeks. You may also consider a breast band if you have to start being MOM earlier. My favorite band is the mermaid breast band.
Thank you for asking about your breast augmentation. The tail of Spence is the normal breast tissue that extends to the axilla (arm pit). There is no need to remove it for a breast augmentation.Breast cancer can appear anywhere in the breast - Given our understanding of breast cancer today, ...
It is my opinion, that a stye on your eye shouldn't delay or postpone your surgery.Keith S. Berman, MD
Dear rbelo, Thank you for your clinical post and photographs. At 4 weeks it’s still too early to formulate concerns over final shape and form. Implants often require 12-16 weeks to drop and soften into the surgical pocket. The amount of distance between the implants is usually a function o...
