Answer: Lip lift A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Could the lip lift be done without increasing the size of my upper lip vermillion? The lip lift in general and certainly the way I perform it, doesn’t significantly increase the size of the vermillion. Most post op pictures that show a larger vermillion are this way because of lip fillers.

Answer: Discussing Philtrum and Lip size The procedure you're referring to is commonly known as a "lip lift" or "philtrum reduction." This type of cosmetic surgery aims to shorten the length of the philtrum (the area between the nose and the upper lip) and can also enhance the appearance of the upper lip. Here are some key points to consider: 1. **Procedure Details**: During a lip lift, a small strip of skin is removed from the base of the nose, and the remaining skin is sutured, effectively lifting the upper lip and shortening the philtrum. 2. **Impact on Lip Size**: While a lip lift does result in some degree of increased upper lip prominence, a skilled surgeon can tailor the procedure to ensure that the upper lip size is enhanced modestly and naturally, rather than excessively. The goal is to create a balanced and aesthetically pleasing outcome. 3. **Simulation vs. Actual Results**: Pulling the skin with your fingers to simulate the result can be misleading. This method may distort the natural shape and proportions of your lips and philtrum. The actual surgical outcome is typically more refined and natural-looking. The tension and distribution of the lift are more controlled during surgery, leading to a more harmonious result. 4. **Consultation with a Surgeon**: The best way to understand how the procedure will affect your specific anatomy is to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in facial procedures. They can provide a detailed evaluation and may even use digital imaging to show you potential results based on your unique facial structure. 5. **Realistic Expectations**: It's important to have realistic expectations about the outcome. While the procedure can significantly improve the appearance of the philtrum and upper lip, the exact changes will depend on your facial anatomy and the surgeon's technique. If you are seriously considering this procedure, scheduling a consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon would be the next step. They can provide personalized advice, show you before-and-after photos of similar cases, and discuss the potential benefits and risks in detail.

Answer: Lip lift I've been doing, writing about, and speaking on lip lift for years. We can address the lip in various ways. It can be rolled out to increase volume, or, when preferred, lifted more like a curtain to shorten the length without adjusting the size as much. These are in office procedures that take about 30 minutes.
