Can a V-Y lip lift decrease the length of the philtrum?

I have large lips which have other the years made my lips droopy and makes my philtrum look large in contrast. I've been considering a lip lift, but the biggest deterrent is the permanent and prominent scar that it leaves. I have recently been doing some research on a V-Y lift, though less information is known regarding that procedure. Is this the best procedure for decreasing the philtrum and droppings without a scar and if not what other procedures would you recommend instead.

It is very difficult to find out what is exactly what you need, based on these photos. Traditional lip lift with scar placed between the lip and nose, partially hidden inside the nose sill, should be a lift procedure you may consider. However, issue with pigmented scar, what is something you may expect considering your skin type is also to be considered. A V-Y lip lift or elongation procedure is occasionally used to address lip high in cleft lips and can be used in esthetic lip lift procedure only in very selected patients. Lip reduction may be something to consider as well? Hope this helps.

Hello, hope you are well. Thank you for posting your background information and questions. The philtrum is not shortened with a V-Y procedure. It can only be effectively shortened by removing skin which requires a subnasal lip lift. If you have favorable anatomy, the scar can be concealed very well and made relatively inconspicuous.
