Hi I just came down with a bad sinus infection and I have a surgery for a breast lift and augmentation in 6 days. I read that you shouldn’t have surgery with a sinus infection but my doctor is saying I can. Do you know if it’s safe or are there risks?

If there are no other symptoms, a runny or runny nose should not interfere with anesthesia or recovery. A sinus infection, whether viral or bacterial, will cause surgery to be postponed. vAny fever indicates that your body is fighting some type of infection or illness. You will need to reschedule your surgery if you have a fever.

Dear Eclectic,
Although it would be easy for me to answer this question this is something you really should discuss with your plastic surgeon.  The lasting you need is to rush into surgery while you have an ongoing infection and to "seed" the implant resulting in a capsule or worse.  If you were my patient I would recommend postponing a week till your infection is resolved then you have finished a course of antibiotics, but you really   Need to speak  to your doctor and get his advice.  This is something we individually decide on.  The good luck with your decision and I hope your breast augmentation when ever it takes place goes well.
