Hello philosophical 454246. Thank you for your question regarding a monsplasty revision and whether the mons can be repositioned. Thank you for your history and your picture. It appears that you recently underwent an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck with a mons lift reduction. Additionally, it appears that the position of the mons portion is too high. Indeed, from your singular picture and not a physical examination, the center 1/3 of the mons is more elevated than the lateral 2/3. Therefore, your mons is raised in the center. Before considering your revision, I would wait at least 4 to 6 months after your tummy tuck. This area between the mons and the tummy is the area of tightest tension after a tummy tuck. Therefore, you need to wait till the skin relaxes before revision is in order. Since you have excess skin and fat of the mons, I would suggest a full-thickness tissue revision. This would entail an incision made in the prior tummy tuck scar. Then, the incision would be carried down towards the mons region. Extra skin and fat of the upper mons will be reduced, and the upper mons scar will be mobilized inferiorly. This will lower the abdominoplasty scar and remove more of the upper 1/3 of the mons. Since you have excess skin and fat of the mons, mons liposuction will not suffice. Mons liposuction will only remove excess mons fat and will not eliminate the excess skin of the upper mons. A monsplasty revision would take approximately 1 to 2 hours under general anesthesia. A drain may be required for 5 to 7 days. A compression garment will also be required approximately 6 to 8 weeks after the procedure to minimize swelling and help flatten the scar. Good luck. I hope I’ve helped answer your question regarding a monsplasty revision and whether it can be repositioned.Sincerely, Dr. Katzen, MD, MBA, FASC, FICS.
