The area of the thyroid is typically avoided during Ultherapy treatment. Regardless, I am not aware of any reports of effects of the thyroid from all the Ultherapy cases that have been done to date.
Hi Setareh. In the clinical studies done for Ultherapy during its FDA approval, there were no adverse effects on the thyroid gland. As a safety precaution we do not treat directly over the thyroid gland when we perform Ultherapy treatments. Hope this answers your question!
Anatomically, the thyroid gland usually is approximately1 cm deep, below the surface of the skin. Ultherapy focuses to a depth of .45 cm (4.5 mm). Ultherapy will tighten and lift skin but when used with the current transducers has not been demonstrated to cause injury to facial fat. Well nasolabial folds may or may not improve following Ultherapy treatment, they would not be expected to worsen.
