This is a great question, thanks for asking! Your surgeon will most likely ask for a medical clearance from either your PCP or cardiologist prior to surgery. I typically do SmartLipo with local anesthesia. My patients are awake through the procedure and pain is controlled with numbing medication. This is a nice alternative to general anesthesia especially with patients that have HBP. I suggest you seek a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck to you!
Hypertension exists on a spectrum from mild and well-controlled to severe and uncontrolled. It frequently coexists with other medical problems including heart disease. Some of these problems would create problems with surgery or increase the risk for dangerous events. If you have mild HTN and are otherwise healthy and have been completely evaluated by your medical doctor and found to be fit for surgery, then you should be OK to undergo most cosmetic procedures in an accredited facility.
Thanks for the question, when someone is on one or two meds I start by asking if they have a history of heart attacks, strokes, or blood clots than I ask if they get chest pain walking up stairs. I typically will get some basic blood work because some high blood pressure meds can change your body chemistry. That being said, if you are well controlled you should likely have no issue!
Hi There Thank you for your question.I have just one thought and that is that high blood pressure does go hand in hand with being overweight.Obviously you are looking for lipo so it begs the question whether you are indeed overweight. In my opinion and according to the manufacturer Smartlipo (or any lipo) is not a brilliant option in someone who is overweight. But if bordering on a BMI of 30 also having elevated BP you must lose weight and put all thoughts of lipo out of your mind. There are special circumstances where it can be used but smartlipo would not be the best option as it is only designed for very small amounts of fat.If not overweight well controlled BP is no contraindication for lipo.I would look at Bodytite as well ....
you should take your BP meds the day of your surgery. also wise to get your BP checked by your family dr the week before your surgery. if your BP is well controlled, it should be no problem.david berman md
Hi There Thank you for your question and photographs. You will get a great result with lipo if you go to a really good lipo doctor. Consider Bodytite as an option as it will give you much more tightening. Obviously if not available in USA then you are stuck with other methods but a really good ...
Thanks for asking this question. I do not let my patients return to the gym until they are three weeks post op. It's important for the first three weeks not to elevate your heart rate/blood pressure. If you have concerns check with your surgeon's protocol. Best of luck to you.
Thank you for your question. It is best to avoid alcohol for a few weeks post surgery. Give your body time to heal and recover. Best of luck.
