Hi Lina and thank you for your question. On average a scar can take 1-1.5 years to mature and fade, depending on skin tone and texture. PDL (Pulsed Dye Laser) or V-Beam laser can be very successful in fading down the redness in the scar and generally can be done every 6 weeks and may take several treatments to fade it down (because as the redness gets lighter it gets harder for the laser to react to it). Always refer to your plastic surgeon for further advice and best of luck!Dr. K.
Thank you for your question and photograph. In most cases redness of incisional scars lasts about 7 months.Redness or purple discoloration of scars and 18 months is uncommon. I cannot tell you why and your case this is happened. However IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) can often close small blood vessels in the scar that are causing this discoloration.
