I have a significant reduction of visual field from drooping eyelids and my eye doctor referred me to a plastic surgeon. He recommended getting a blepharoplasty and an eyebrow lift. I have a receding, thinning hairline so the surgeon wants to make the incisions in my forehead wrinkles. When I asked about long term visible scars the doctor appeared uncertain. Is this mid forehead procedure likely to leave scarring or is their a better procedure for me?
Answer: Forehead lift From the forehead/hairline photo you have posted, I agree with your surgeon that a mid forehead brow lift is the best option for your anatomy. The scar will remain red for a few weeks to months, but once the redness has faded, it will blend in with the other lines in your forehead. The short answer is that all scars are visible if you look for them closely. As surgeons, are goals are to camouflage the scars as best as possible, and in your case, the creases in your forehead will allow them to blend. From your photo, however, it is not possible to determine if indeed you NEED a brow lift. That would be better assessed with a full face photo, and even better with an in person consultationGood luck

Answer: Brow Lift Thank you for your question. Endoscopic brow lifting creates a more youthful appearance to the brow and upper eyelid region. It is especially helpful in addressing sagging eyebrow and softening vertical lines between the eyebrows and horizontal creases. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon. Best wishes,

Answer: Midforehead can give an excellent result in the right patient Browlifts can be performed by many techniques, and those of us who are experienced browlifters use a variety of procedures depending on the patient. A midforehead lift can be an excellent solution in some patients. The scar can stay red for a few months but in a patient who has forehead wrinkles it will usually not be visible at all after full healing. Your surgeon should be able to show you pictures of patients who have had the procedure that is being suggested so you can see how it looks. The majority of patients do not mind their photos being shown to potential patients.

Answer: Brow elecation hi there. For patients with a mobile long brow it maybe wise to consider direct my brow liftt (within the brow hairs). This can be performed during blepharopplasty and is much less invasive than endoscopic or mid forhead incisions which may result in sugnifucant scars.

Answer: Forehead lifts You present some challenges beyond the ordinary and the photographs don't reveal all we would like to see. While endoscopic brow lift has the advantage over smaller scars (typically 1/2 inch each x3) and closer to the hairline, your hairline appears such that to place them behind the hairline the rigid endoscopes will not be able to negotiate the curve of the skull and give adequate exposure to do full release as required, in my opinion. I have not personally done a mid forehead lift in my long career but have seen the resulting scars and they are quite noticeable for many months. Some people are more scar adverse than others, You might be able to get adequate relief with the blepharoplasty alone, so a second opinion is advisable
