I have a significant reduction of visual field from drooping eyelids and my eye doctor referred me to a plastic surgeon. He recommended getting a blepharoplasty and an eyebrow lift. I have a receding, thinning hairline so the surgeon wants to make the incisions in my forehead wrinkles. When I asked about long term visible scars the doctor appeared uncertain. Is this mid forehead procedure likely to leave scarring or is their a better procedure for me?

Answer: Brow elecation hi there. For patients with a mobile long brow it maybe wise to consider direct my brow liftt (within the brow hairs). This can be performed during blepharopplasty and is much less invasive than endoscopic or mid forhead incisions which may result in sugnifucant scars.

Answer: Forehead lifts You present some challenges beyond the ordinary and the photographs don't reveal all we would like to see. While endoscopic brow lift has the advantage over smaller scars (typically 1/2 inch each x3) and closer to the hairline, your hairline appears such that to place them behind the hairline the rigid endoscopes will not be able to negotiate the curve of the skull and give adequate exposure to do full release as required, in my opinion. I have not personally done a mid forehead lift in my long career but have seen the resulting scars and they are quite noticeable for many months. Some people are more scar adverse than others, You might be able to get adequate relief with the blepharoplasty alone, so a second opinion is advisable
