How long do fillers last for laugh lines?

Fillers can last anywhere from 3-12 months. If you are concerned about longevity you could consider fat transfer which can have very natural results that last a significantly longer amount of time. Just something to consider. Hope this helps.Best of luck,DrC

Hi Magda45,Thank you for your inquiry about dermal fillers for the laugh lines! At my San Francisco office I like to use Juvederm Voluma for the laugh lines. I typically start by injecting the mid-face and cheekbones creating lift and reducing/softening the laugh lines. If the laugh lines are severe enough I may also inject the lines themselves. Here are a few reasons why I prefer Juvederm Voluma over other dermal filler: 
- It's spongy consistency is strong enough to lift the skin in the mid-face AND soft enough to feel natural
- Results last up to 2 years AND are reversible if needed
- Results are seen immediately and usually and it usually cases minimal swelling or bruising

Thank you for a very good question.  There is a ton of fillers on the market currently and the answer depends on the type of product that is used. The type of product used depends on severity of the smile lines, meaning how deep they are. For very mild smile lines, I often use Restylne Silk or Juvederm Volbella or Juvederm Ultra, which should last between 6-9 months.  For Moderate lines, I use Juvederm Ultra Plus, Emervel/Restylane Refyne, which should last 12 months. For severe lines we have Emervel/Restylane Defyne, Restylane Lyft, which will last about 12-18 months.  In April 2017, Juvederm Vollure  will be available to smile lines and should last up to 18 months.  This is a lot of information and every physician has their favorites to use and it honestly depends if you really need to have your lines treated  versus treating what causes those lines to appear in the first place.
