Hand swelling can occur with both operations and gets worse if you have a tight wrap on your arms. Elevation and avoiding salty foods might help. You need to be examined by your plastic surgeon about your swelling.
Hand swelling after arm surgery is common. Arm elevation should relieve most. Compression wrapping from your hands will also help.Always discuss with your surgeon.Best Wishes,Nana Mizuguchi, MD
Thanks for your question. While patients will experience varying degrees of swelling following an arm lift, it's best to be seen and evaluated by your plastic surgeon to exclude complications. Please call them! Best of luck to you
Thanks for your question. The hand swelling is likely due more to the arm lift you had. Yes, a little of that it is normal and to be expected. But, it should be fairly symmetric between both hands. You should have your surgeon take a look. Best wishes.
Hi,You do not mention how long ago your surgery was so it is difficult to comment. That said, hand swelling after breast augmentation is unusual, however swelling after brachioplasty is common. Has your PS given you compression garments for your arms ? This can help with swelling. It is always worth checking with your PS if you have any concerns - you have paid a lot of money for your surgery and you should be able to contact your PS and ask him/her about any issues you have,
It is common to have some hand swelling after an arm lift. This is due to the surgery itself and also the dressing placed around the upper arm. Elevation of the arm will help. This is something your doctor needs to know especially if you develope other symptoms like numbness and tinglng. The dressing may need to be adjusted. Good Luck.
I would expect to see some degree of hand swelling after arm lift surgery. Compression devices that start at the wrist as well as arm elevation above the level of your heart seem to be helpful. Congratulations on your surgeries.
