Hello doctors, How can I improve my jawline? My chin looks short and I'd like to make it more masculine. I was considering custom chin implant, mandibular angle implants, and liposuction. It looks worse when I'm shaved.
Answer: Chin implant Yes, I would agree with your thoughts although the liposuction may be of little value. This could be confirmed during a consultation. I don't think you would need a custom implant. Bring pictures of profiles you like and don't like too big. Hope this helps. Answer: Jaw contouring If you want more augmentation and strength to the jaw then a jaw contouring procedure may be a good options for you. There are many different techniques to achieve the desired goal with custom implants, bone contouring, genioplasty etc. We specialize in jaw surgery and based on the photos I think improvements are possible. Consultation is very important to go over the details. Best wishes

Answer: Jawline Augmentation With a short chin and high jaw angles, you ideally need a custom jawline implant to make all the augmentations in a connected fashion. Individual chin and jaw angle implants are a secondary treatment option which offer an improvement but inferior aesthetic result.

Answer: Better jaw and chin Thank you for your question and your photos. To improve the chin you have two options; a chin implant or an osseous genioplasty. Both have pros and cons. It looks like you have a nice square, masculine chin, but you need more horizontal projection. If you would like better definition at the angle of your jaw, I recommend mandibular angle implants. There are several different types, some that make the jaw wider, some longer and some do a bit of both. There are also custom implants, but given all the choices in stock implants, I don't think creating a custom implant is worth the difference in cost. There are also implants that connect both the chin and the jaw and enhance both, to give more definition. Best of luck, Dr Rodman

Answer: How can I improve my jawline? The photographs demonstrate a weak and recessive chin profile for which a chin implant can improve. Chin implants are manufactured in a large array of sizes, thicknesses, and shapes, therefore a custom implant is usually not necessary. In our practice, Chin implants are placed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. We have used Implantech brand of solid silicone chin implants for over 25 years with an excellent success rate. There does not appeared to be very much fat in the neck, therefore liposuction will be of minimal benefit. For many examples of chin implants, please see video below
