Question

Hello,I was badly burned from IPL on both sides of my nose. They blistered then scabbed. The provider told me to use cortison but I just can't trust the person who burned me. How can I prevent scarring or is it inevitable? How can I minimize scarring? Would fresh aloe vera help? Manuka honey? Any creams? I know to leave the scabs on for as long as possible but should I be putting something topical on them now? Once scabs fall off should I apply Mederma or other scar cream/gel? Thank you!

Actually you need to keep the site free of scabs. Keep it moist and gooped up - Vaseline works well. You want the new skin to fill in at the upper level and not a divet. If you keep a scab there you literally have a divet of skin there and this is not what you want. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and cannot be held as true medical advice, but only opinion.
