I misread my doctor's post-op instructions to apply Aquaphor following 5 days after the procedure and instead, applied it once a day for the first 5 days after the procedure. I did not wash my eyebrows and in the end there was some build up of Aquaphor in my eyebrows. Do you think this affected the grafts and will undermine the final result of the eyebrow transplant?
Answer: Applying aquaphor to grafts You should be fine. Aquaphor helps prevent crusting, while allowing the grafts to heal appropriately. I certainly recommend what you did as my regimen for my patients. That being said, contact your doc! I'm sure their office will be more than happy to help guide you through the process. Congrats on your procedure by the way! Now its just a matter of letting things heal and the growth process starting.

Answer: Eyebrow Transplant You should be okay. It happens, There is not a chance that Aquaphor will effect or damage the growth but it does helps prevent crusting, while allowing the grafts to heal appropriately by keeping the hair follicles hydrated. I recommend my patients to clean with a q-tip by gently rolling around to collect any excess of ointment and clean with mild soap afterwards. That being said, I would advise you to contact the doctor who performed your hair transplantation. I'm sure their office will be more than happy to help guide you through the process. Answer: Eyebrow I instruct my patients to apply Aquaphor directly on their grafts from day one. It is an excellent way to decrease crusting and improve healing, since it moisturizes without restricting airflow. In my mind, you did the right thing and there is nothing to worry about.

Answer: Application of aquaphor The Application of aquaphor or any topical application will sit on the skin and not go into the hair follicles which are below the level of the skin. Wash it appropairately. The recipient area requires daily washes as well to keep the recipient area free of crusts. I generally recommend the use of a sponge and supply my patient with a surgical sponge to fill with soapy water and press on the recipient area daily. By repeating this daily, all crusts can be washed off without any fear of losing grafts and you should be clean of crusts within a day. IF any crust is present, use a Q tip and dip it into soapy water, and roll it on the crusts and that will lift them off without dislodging them, but never rub them, just roll the Q tip on the recipient crust. I like to see no evidence of any crusting in the recipient area and the crusts from the donor area gone in 7-10 days with daily washing
