Can Buccal fat be used to fill in the bags under your eyes that dent in, like Kim Kardashian did?

Buccal fat tissues removed from inside the mouth are not recommended to be transferred elsewhere in the body because the risk of contamination increases as they are removed from inside the mouth and the bacteria inside the mouth can cause infections when they are moved to elsewhere in the body. Fat can be harvested from other parts of the body and transferred to under the eyes safely.

Bucal fat pads removed through the oral cavity can NOT be used to fill any other parts of the body (eg. dent in under your eyes) unless it is inside the oral cavity. The reason is contamination and risk of severe life threatening infection.The oral cavity has bacterias ( oral flora) that in the mouth cause not harm. However, if transplanted to another part of the body they can cause severe infection ( human bites that are not treated can cause severe infection). Since the fat is extracted through he mouth, it automatically gets contaminated with oral bacterias. Therefore, this contaminated buccal fat pads could cause infection if translated in other areas of the body that are not the oral cavity. 

My advice prior to having any buccal fat pad transplant would be to try a dermal filler as it is not a permanent solution. Once you have tried this to fill your tear troughs then you will be better informed about whether you would want such a large amount of fat placed in that area.
