It seems over the year my chin has wanted more attention in photos. It wasnt this large when i was younger. At first i thought it was facial volume loss so i got 2 vials of scupltra (which helps but my chin is still large). Im wondering do i just need to trim the front of the chin or is there an entire jawline softening that can be done as well? What is the average cost for chin reduction surgery?
Answer: Cost of a chin implant? Cost factors vary significantly for a number of good reasons: Prices vary greatly because the surgery itself encompasses a wide range of techniques that can be performed to different extents. My recommendation is to first find the most qualified surgeons where you want the surgery performed that are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery you trust, then compare prices between them. See the below link on suggestions on how to find the most qualified plastic surgeon for your procedure. General Factors that influence the price of plastic surgery include: 1. Location - Will it be performed in a hospital with an overnight stay, an independent out- patient facility or a doctor’s office? Geographical location also has a significant influence. RealSelf has average charges for most areas of the USA. 2. Type of Anesthesia - local, IV sedation or General Anesthesia? Will a board certified anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, or an RN be used? 3. Experience and training of your surgeon. The best and longest trained is most often a plastic surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery 4. Length and Complexity of Surgery - how difficult will your surgery be and how long it will take, etc. Will other complementary procedures also be also performed during the same surgery?

Answer: Chin reduction surgery. There are a few different medical specialties that you could look to you for this type of work. Most plastic surgeons do not teach and reductions on a regular basis. You may want to look for a plastic surgeon who is going to cranial facial reconstructive fellowship. Or simply has proven in case numbers of Chin reductions. The procedure itself is not all that technically complicated but it's always best to be in the hands of someone who does something on a regular basis, has inherent talent and has aesthetic judgment. Some oral surgeons do very nice work in this area as well. This is also true for doctors trained and hear nose and throat surgery go on to doing craniofacial fellowships. The procedure should not be too expensive since it's pretty straightforward. It would most likely require general Anastasia it would take an hour and a half or so.My best guess is it'll be between $4500-$6000 in most metropolitan areas.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.

Answer: Chin reduction You probably would benefit from a reduction genioplasty where a segment of bone is removed and the chin is reduced both horizontally and vertically. This is done through an intraoral incision and and a bone plate is placed to hold things in place for healing. Find a board certified surgeon who does frequent chin surgery for the best result. Good luck. Donald R. Nunn MD DDS Atlanta Plastic Surgeon
