Is is okay when steri strip falls off a little over a week post surgery?

Hello and thank you for your question,I usually remove the steri-strips approximately 2 weeks after surgery but it is very likely for some patients to have them fall off sooner.  In that case, there have been times where I have re-applied the steri-strips on the patient.  Steri-strips do indeed help protect the wound but there are some patients who react with redness and irritation.  For those patients who experience an adverse reaction, the steri-strips are removed.  I usually do not advise placing other tapes on without speaking with your plastic surgeon.  I would certainly encourage you to follow up with your plastic surgeon and see what he/she advises.  Good luck!
