Hello I had my breast augmentation, about a week ago. ( 505 cc subglandular silicone gel) I was just curious, why should one be careful such as not bending down, pushing or pulling or lifting something heavy? I'm always worried because numerous times I had to lift or strech my arms left and right and drive; also I've pulled and pushed heavy doors could this damage my implants? Thank you

Thank you for your question.  Range of motion and light lifting is allowed after breast augmentation surgery as it prevents arm stiffness and soreness.  Heavy lifting, and strenuous activity, is discouraged as it increases blood pressure which can lead to bleeding, increased swelling, and additional pain, while any forceful manipulation of the implant may cause it to move into an undesirable location.  Always best to follow your doctor's post surgery directions to help minimize any risks.  Hope that this helps.

Thank you for your question.   We like to avoid excessive tension and friction on the scars to allow optimal healing.   We like to avoid heavy lifting, sports, exercise to minimize pain, bleeding, and implant movement.  All the best.

Hi, aqua_88.  Moving your arms side to side for driving should not affect your healing.  I want my patients to avoid heavy lifting, sudden movement, pushing  and pulling heavy objects as they will 1) cause them to have pain,2) potentially give hematoma, 3) displace implants.  Vigorous movement/exercise will not damage your implants.  Please take it easy and follow your plastic surgeon's postop instruction.  Good luck with your recovery.

Heavy lifting and vigorous activity needs to be avoided for around six weeks to mnimise swelling, bleeding and movement of your implants.  Its essential to follow your surgeons post operative guidelines to minimise the risk of complications.
