Immunosuppression for your kidney transplant may complicate the healing process and increase risks associates with breast implants. If an infection develops, it could damage the transplanted kidney. Consultation with your nephrologist and plastic surgeon would go over all of the risks and their likelihood.
I appreciate your question.Breast augmentation is a safe procedure but with a complicated medical course and immunosuppressive medications, the chance of complications such as poor wound healing and infection are higher.I would discuss with your transplant teamThe risk vs benefits may be too highThe best way to assess and give true advice would an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery.best of luck!Dr Schwartz
Given that you are likely on immunosuppressive drugs for your recent transplant I would be apprehensive to place implants until you have had more time since your transplant. The most important thing is protecting your new kidney and you want to make sure that your transplant surgeon and nephrologist is able to weigh in on your decision to proceed with breast augmentation. Good luck! #PlasticSurgery #BreastAug #BreastImplant #Implants #surgerycandidate #kidneytransplant
When you receive a kidney transplant you need medication to keep your body from rejecting the kidney. Consequently those medications make you immunocompromised which make you a high risk for breast augmentation. It is probably best to see how your body responds to the kidney and the medication for several years before considering cosmetic plastic surgery. If you were my cousin or family or patient I would probably discourage you from the surgery. May you be healthy and enjoy your life. I would recommend you see a therapist to discuss your needs. Good luck...
Hi, Alixoxo89. Please check with your nephrologist and transplant surgeon to get the clearance for surgery. Breast augmentation is a very safe, 1hour surgery. However, it is an elective surgery; you want to undergo an elective surgery when you are healthy and medically optimized. Best wishes.
Since you had surgery only 2 months ago, I would suggest waiting for at least 4-10 more months to let your body heal and adjust to your new kidney. You are on medication that increase the risks of complications. Plus, you will need your medical doctor and nephrologist approval for additional elective surgery. Congratulations on finding a kidney! Your kidney and overall health is much more important that the size of your breasts.
Congratulations on having undergone the kidney transplantation.Overall it sounds like you are in good health. The history of kidney transplantation will likely not contraindicate breast surgery. Timing of the surgery will best be determined by your transplant surgeon and nephrologist. Communication between these doctors and your plastic surgeon will also be important. Best wishes.
This is a great question. I think you will find a variety of responses from plastics surgeons on the topic. At one week I generally don't recommend an underwire in my practice because it can irritate and cause discomfort at the incision in the inframammary fold. However, there...
Hi. I feel that other answers have addressed this as a transgender issue and IMHO this is absolutely the wrong terminology. As you point out, you enjoy cross dressing. You want to be discreet and therefore would like implants on the smaller side. I understand your position of not jeopardizing...
There is little difference in size between a 450cc implant and 475cc implant. While it’s hard to say without a physical examination, I would agree with your doctor that going any larger may give you undesirable results. While some women do see great success with implants 500cc and above, you h...
