What could dislocate an implant early in the recovery process after breast augmentation?

Thank you for your question.  Immediately after surgery the pocket dissected to place the implant into is fresh, and can be further dissected with too much motion of the implant, as with forceful pressure or trauma to the chest.  Additionally should a large hematoma form, this can also displace the implant into an inappropriate location.  Implant malposition or dislocation can occur directly after surgery, but it is unlikely assuming you follow your doctor's post-surgery instructions, and wear the recommended undergarments.  Hope that this helps. 

It seems that you have implant malposition or movement of the implant outside of the pocket.   This can be due to overactivity early in the recovery period or extrinsic pressure on the implant, or inadequate bra support.  Please contact your plastic surgeon for evaluation and specialty bra placement.  All the best.Dr. Gill

The risks of implants moving after augmentation is usually low if you follow your surgeons post operative guidelines.  Vigorous activity and heavy lifting in the first few months after surgery should be avoided.  If you believe that your implant has moved, you should contact your surgeon and arrange a review.
