I am 4 and a half months post BA surgery. I am 5ft 3" and weigh 51kg I have 350cc high profile implants placed over the muscle. Pre surgery I was a deflated C cup. Since my surgery my breasts have not moved apart, they are always touching unless I raise my arms above my head. The skin between them does not sit flat against my sternum unless I push it down. Is there an alternative to revision surgery for me to get my breasts to sit and feel more normal ?
Answer: ?revision breast surgery Hi and thanks for your question. Without photos I must assume that what you're describing is a version of something called synmastia, where the implants pockets have been dissected so close to one another towards the midline that when the high profile implants get inserted the upward pressure on the small strip of skin between them tends to lift it off the sternum. This is usually corrected with revisional surgery to either modify the existing pockets or to create new pockets. Occasionally post operative swelling can make the breast skin appear more "lifted" than it truly is, however, at 4.5 months post op this shouldn't be a factor. I don't believe wearing a specialised bra with central pressure over the pre-sternal skin area will achieve any significant improvement. I'm sure your Specialist Plastic Surgeon will be able to guide you through this process. You'll be in good hands.

Answer: Implant Revision Thank you for your question. You can try a symmastia bra which has a strap that spreads the implants apart. At 4.5 months, it may not result in much improvement. If it does not, then a symmastia correction will be necessary to restore normal cleavage and contour. I would recommend close followup and discussion of possible revision with your plastic surgeon. All the best.

Answer: Cleavage Thank you for your question. Your cleavage is dictated by your anatomy. Several patients are unhappy with their cleavage after their breast augmentations. If the breasts are placed closer together or further apart than they are before the operation, the nipples can sit on either side of the implant which would distort the appearance of your breasts. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL

Answer: Breasts too close together after breast augmentation Without any photographs or a formal examination, its difficult to provide you with guidance. While its possible you still have some degree of swelling affecting your final result, at this stage we would normally expect most of your swelling to be resolved. Its possible you have a degree of synmastia or uniboob. This occurs when the "pocket" that the implants sit in have been dissected too close to the centre of your chest and the implants push up the skin in between the implants. In some cases, this resolves over time as the implants settle. Otherwise a revision procedure may be required to resize your pockets and reposition your implants. Discuss your concerns with your surgeon to determine the cause of your concern and your options.
