This is a common concern of patients that are early in the healing process. The implants appear high early in recovery and usually settle over time. The settling can happen as early as 6 weeks and sometimes even longer. Follow your Plastic surgeons post operative instructions. Good luck.
Hello,Directly post op, your tight, swollen breast tissue will compress and displace the implants up and outward. As well, swollen pectoral muscles can further contribute to the high, boxy look of post op breasts with nipples too low on the breast mound. As swelling subsides the implants will drop & fluff. This can take between 2-6 months and involves volume moving from the upper pole into mid & lower breast. This will cause the nipples to appear to sit higher eventually. I recommend that you follow your Plastic Surgeon's post op advice. Let them know if you have any concerns and try to wait until closer to 6 months before evaluating your results,All the best
right after surgery nipples may point in directions that ultimately will change. This happens as the implant which is initially very high drops into the pocket and the nipple rotates upward on the implant. For now the best treatment is time and follow the instructions given by your PS. Good luck!
It is not unusual for the breasts to look very strange right after surgery. It takes at least three months for everything to stop changing and settle into position. The breasts often appear to have too much upper pole fullness at first. Over time, the tissue should relax and allow the implant to stretch out the lower aspect of the breast. As this happens, you should have more volume in the lower pole of the breast and the nipples will not point down nearly as much. I hope this helps.
Thanks for your question and congratulations on your recent surgery! Yes, at this point and this early in the recovery, for your nipples to appear to be pointing downward is normal. Your implants are still sitting very high and over the next several weeks to several months, they will settle into their final position, and your nipples will be more centered on your breast mound. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. Yes, it is normal for your nipples to point downward. Over the next 3-6 months the implants will come down and settle, this will allow the nipples to move upwards. Best.
Thank you for your question. You appear to be in the early stage of healing which can be quiet challenging and emotions are a big part of the process as well. Give it some time for the implants to settle before you worry. Is always best to discuss specifically with your operating surgeon so that he /she can take a look.
Thank you for your question and photos. Not all patients and physicians have the same protocol for post op care and expectations. It may not be abnormal to have this position after surgery. Your surgeon will be the best to comment on this finding. Good luck.
If one is in the early phases following surgery the nipples may be looking like they are pointing lower than expected. This may be because the implant is riding a bit high. In most cases, the implants will settle with time. The ultimate result is often not noted until 4 to 6 months later or even longer. Your surgeon may wish that you wear a band which is often elastic in nature to help settle the implants.
At this point, it's too early to tell what your results will be when you're fully healed. The way your breasts appear in the photos submitted may be due to the angle of the photo, your breast implant size and the surgery technique used to lift the nipples. Many women choose to undergo the nipple lift only believing it will have advantages over the vertical lift only to find that nipples will move up only a small amount. Then they have to undergo the vertical scar anyway later. Speak with your plastic surgeon about your concerns and follow up for a whole year after surgery to determine your final results.Warmest regards, Dr. Aldo
