I only have one eye bag. One doctor I saw said I will need facelift and separate lower blepharoplasty. Another said with high SMAS the eye bag can be fixed without the separate lower bleph. Can this be done? Can anyone please give me a layman's idea of how? Please! and thankyou.

Answer: Eyelid bags fixed with high SMAS facelift? I do not think that you should expect a lot of improvement in your eyelid bags without performing a blepharoplasty. A facelift alone is unlikely to make a big difference--no matter which approach is used.

Answer: Can "High" SMAS correct under eye bags and jowls? While a High SMAS can improve jowls, eyebags are usually improved with a blepharoplasty not a facelift, high SMAS or any other type.Keep in mind, that following the exact advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do and technically how to do it without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of the proposed operative procedure may not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California
