SMAS Facelift dropping to soon. Results looked better at 1 day and 2 weeks post op. What can be done to prevent this? (photos)

Question

This is a proper smas lower facelift by board certified surgeon. Not just skin only facelift. Can you see the results look better at 1 day and 2 weeks? why at a month does it look 'dropped'. What is the technique the surgeon can do to prevent this from happening? Pull tighter or what?

Hi Thank you for your question.The reason why it looks tighter is due to the swelling that can last up to a month post surgery. The face has not dropped, the swelling has just disappeared. You have still got a good contour and smooth jawline. I would suggest going back to your surgeon around the 6/9 month mark if you still have concerns, but for the time being give it some time. The SMAS muscle would have been tightened and this will not drop. Usually any type of dropping is due to skin laxity, so however much you tighten, if you have lax skin anyway, you will find that the results may not last as long as others. The best thing for skin laxity is prescribed skin care regimes, no sun beds or extensive sun bathing. Drink plenty of water, and eat healthily. No smoking or drug use. You have to remember even though you have had surgery, your skin and body is your temple and you must maintain it to have long lasting results.I hope that helps.

Thank you for your question . yes indeed you look better after your surgery and is because you are swollen you need to weight some more weeks and ask your doctor .   Also just because you have the  SMAS  technique we ignored how it was handle by the surgeon.
