Which is the Best antibiotic to prevent a seroma get infetcted? I've been drained twice with needle aspiraton so i'm going to take antibiotic in order to prevent infection. It can be tetracycline the Best way?? May be dangerous if i take that antibiotic? Or It unnecessary? Thanks a lot

The decision to implement an antibiotic during the treatment of a serum is up to your surgeon.  The choices are numerous concerning antibiotics.  There is no best antibiotic .  The choice depends on many factors that your surgeon considers before deciding if antibiotics are necessary and if so which antibiotic to choose.

In general, most plastic surgeons would not recommend antibiotic coverage for a seoma if there are not signs of infection - redness, tenderness, fever, elevated white blood cell count , etc.   Do not start on an antibiotic without checking first with your surgeon.   Taking unnecessary antibiotics could result in selecting out for more resistant bacterial infections.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
