Best antibiotic to prevent seroma get infected?

The decision to implement an antibiotic during the treatment of a serum is up to your surgeon.  The choices are numerous concerning antibiotics.  There is no best antibiotic .  The choice depends on many factors that your surgeon considers before deciding if antibiotics are necessary and if so which antibiotic to choose.

This is a question for the surgeon who is taking care of you. He or she knows what has been done and how you've healed so far. They are your best resource at this point. Best of luck. Dean Vistnes. 

In general, most plastic surgeons would not recommend antibiotic coverage for a seoma if there are not signs of infection - redness, tenderness, fever, elevated white blood cell count , etc.   Do not start on an antibiotic without checking first with your surgeon.   Taking unnecessary antibiotics could result in selecting out for more resistant bacterial infections.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
