. I’m still draining junk. I had a lipoma removed from my abdomen 10 days ago. Bruising, hard spots are Gone. But 2 days ago the hole where the drain tube enters started hurting baddly. last night I noticed an area that looks like sunburn (where the 5”x3” lipoma used to be. .

Thank you for sharing your excellent question and photographs. I would reach out and contact your surgeon for a possible infection before it worsens.  If you have seen spreading redness from your incision you may have a cellulitis which can respond to antibiotics.  It would be important, however, to also rule out a possible fluid collection that could have become infected and require drainage.  Hope this helps.

If you have concerns, the place to start is by contacting your surgeon.  They are best able to assess your situation and develop a care plan.  If they are unavailable, and you have signs of infection such as pain and redness, an ER would be the next best choice.  The operative site and the drain warrant evaluation.
