What is the best sleeping positions after a nipple reconstruction?

No Recliner  Back sore and can only sleep 3 hrs at a time. Day 1 of nipple reconstruction and tummy tuck. I have reading pillow and tons of pillows supporting me. Sleeping on back and then 45 degree angle. Any other positions for a sore back?

Positioning at this point would be dictated by your tummy tuck than your nipple reconstruction.I generally ask patients to use a recliner, adjustable bed or lots of pillows if they are using a regular bed after tummy tuck surgery.  I like my patients to be in a "recliner" or beach chair position for the first 7-14 days.  Every patient is different and we adjust the timeline accordingly.I would recommend you discuss this with your plastic surgeon and see what they would recommend.Hope that helps.

I apologize about the discomfort your experiencing. Unfortunately I also recommend my patients to sleep elevated for a couple of weeks after surgery to decrease the amount of swelling you experience. If the nipple reconstruction was the only procedure performed this might not be as important but the tummy tuck recovery is limiting to the amount of positions you can sleep in. I would recommend looking for new pillows, or a heating pad for your back but be careful not to apply the heating pad to any areas where you were operated on, as they are numb, and there is risk of burning the skin.
