Can I get a neck lift after a chin implant?

Question

I am seriously looking at chin implants, my concerns being vertical length and pre-jowls. If I get an implant, what is the viability of getting a necklift or at least liposuction after the fact?

Thank you for your question. Chin implants are an excellent way to optimize the results of a neck lift and can often be done within the same timeframe. Patients regularly opt for mentoplasty, or chin augmentation surgery, in addition to a neck lift to lengthen the appearance of the jawline while angulating the neck in order to reach their desired aesthetic. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon who can assess your needs and help you choose the best options for your preferred results.

Providing that you need chin implant augmentation and that you also have neck fulness, poorly defined jawline, jowls and similar, all of these should be addressed in one surgery. It is very common to do a chin implant at the same time as neck liposuction and/or a necklift. If you elected to get the chin implant before, it will not limit the ability to perform the other surgeries in the future, but it will mean you will have another recovery period.

A full set of facial photographs including the neck are going to be required to make a determination about how best to proceed with a chin implant and a neck lift procedure. There are many different sizes and styles of chin implants.Regarding your neck, it's important to figure out whether not you have fat below the platysma muscle in the neck. The neck lift and chin implant procedures can be performed separately or together and doesn't matter which order you going first.
