Is there a way to treat my platysmal neck bands?

I recently had Botox to try and improve this one band that keeps pulling my neck down. it seems to have gotten worse since the Botox. It is right in the middle of my neck and my skin is getting lax. I have a follow up apptmt but I really am concerned. I’m only 37 and I did lose some weight this year. Is there a way to help this?

In some cases Botox can create difference and delay surgery. Since that option is out, the next step should be anterior neck lift, which will address current platysma bands and laxity of skin. Lower  face/neck lift is also an option. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with known expertise in face lifts, is recommended. Good luck.

The platysma muscle is a very strong muscle. The botox certainly helps treats bands but the gold standard treatment is a neck lift. The platysma muscles is in the center part of your neck and extends outwards towards the back of your ears. Thus, it needs be sutured together in the midline but also lifted behind the ears to tighten it as much as possible. At the same time, your skin is lifted and tightened. I know you are 37 years old, but an early neck lift will give you the best result possible, more so than non surgical treatments and energy based devices. I hope this helps answer you question.

The best way to treat platysma neck bands it Is to perform a neck lift procedure which includes a platysma plasty to tighten the platysma bands underneath the chin , and then a myotomy on the platysma bands down lower in the neck. Botox prior to the myotomy will also help the long-term results of the bands not recurring. The side profile photograph also demonstrates a recessive Chin profile, so give some consideration to placement of a chin implant at the same time as the neck lift for much better result in your neck
