How soon after Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy is it safe it have a Tummy Tuck?

I had gastric sleeve surgery in December--going from 180 to 138 now. I want to lose about 15 more pounds. I have several small scars on my upper abdomen--from the surgery, a drain, and an earlier gallbladder surgery. How long do I need to wait for tummy tuck? Is it dangerous when I have so many scars on my upper abdomen? I'm otherwise healthy with good labs...

Congratulations on your weight loss. You can be ready for your tummy tuck when you're body mass index is about 30. Once you reach that goal of 30 schedule consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to see which tummy tuck technique would be the best for you. You will likely be a good candidate for tummy tuck surgery once you achieve your long-term stable weight and maintained it  for a period of several months.Tummy tuck surgery in your case can be potentially dangerous if there is a long transverse scar present after your gallbladder surgery (open).   If the gallbladder surgery was done via a  laparoscopic approach, these him blood flow concerns will not be an issue. If the longer scar is present,  potential problems with  blood supply to the abdominal wall flap raised during tummy tuck surgery should be considered. A limited undermining tummy tuck operation ( with the standard transverse incision) will be your best bet.  you may wish to those abdominal wall foregrounds with the next question for more precise responses. When the time is right, seek consultation with an experienced board-certified plastic surgeons who can demonstrate significant experience ( and safety record) is achieving the types of outcomes you will be pleased with.
