Tummy Tuck has changed sex for me, I can't handle deep penetration. Will it be this way forever? (Sorry for being descriptive)

I had a TT about 3 years ago. I am used to having very deep, aggressive sex, but after my tummy tuck I am unable to handle that type of penetration. Is this normal/common? I had my surgery and about 2 weeks into recovery I coughed and my abdominal stitches ripped open. I developed a hematoma immediatly and went into surgery to have it fixed. If I stretch and lean back I can feel tension around my pubic area. Deep sex is painful for me now and I'm wondering if it will always be this way for me?

Thank you for your question. Obviously the other posts missed that your surgery was 3 years ago! and not recently. With an abdominoplasty, the pubic area is tightened, lifted and this can change the angle or vector of your vagina. You might want to try different positions to see if you get the same satisfaction as before. Due to your perioperative complications, you might have more internal scarring and stretching will certainly help make this better. I do not believe that the complication you had, have anything to do with vaginal penetration.

At this point in your recovery it is unlikely that much will improve or change.  It is a complaint I have never heard.

Thank you for your question. I agree with Dr. Marosan, some people did not pay attention and realize that your surgery was several years ago. It is unlikely that the complication had anything to do with this. But it is possible that the surgery itself changed some of the internal anatomy which may be contributing to your problems. It is also possible that your surgeon used permanent suture that was tacked down to your pubic bone and this may be part of the problem. You could always ask your surgeon the details of the operation and see if there are any portions of the procedure in that area that can be reversed and see if this helps. Just depends on your priorities of sex life vs current surgical results which may be compromised with a revision. You should also see your OB/GYN for a full exam and make sure there are not any problems with your internal anatomy that may be contributing. If it has been three years and it has not improved, it is unlikely that it will resolve with additional time.Hope this helps!

You should expect to have discomfort and swelling for three to six months following surgery.  Your symptoms should improve over the next few months. Please follow your plastic surgeons specific advice regarding your level of physical activity.
