Will my implants drop? 3.5 weeks 450cc gummy bear Sientra anatomical implants. (photos)

Question

My concern is that while swelling has decreased immensely, they have not dropped- at all. I can still feel some loose breast tissue at the bottom of the breast. They do feel softer, But they are still high with little lower pole fullness. I have since read that these implants should be placed pretty much where the end result will be because they adhere to the internal tissue. I feel that I am higher than normal for this stage.

Hi there, Thank you for your message. I do think your implants will probably settle and drop a bit more over your first 6-8 weeks post op, but a great way to help assist them is to use an implant stabilizer band, or even an ace bandage. I would recommend using one!

I would not expect your implants to move. They are placed in a precisely developed pocket and along with being textured, are not expected to shift from their original position.

Thank you for your question. You are still early in the post-operative period. It typically takes 3 - 6 months for the swelling to subside and and implants to settle into proper position. Please discuss your concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon. Also, make sure you follow all of your plastic surgeons post-operative instructions regarding level of physical activity and use of a support bra. Hope this helps and good luck with your recovery.

Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent surgery. Shaped implants are textured, and therefore will adhere to the surrounding tissue and settle less than a smooth round implant. However, it's still early after your procedure and they will certainly continue to settle more in the coming months. Because of the shape of gummy bear implants, they are supposed to stick in place so that they don't rotate. This would also prevent them from dropping, at least in theory. There are a number of things to know in order to offer specific advice, such as your pre-op measurements and the specific size and shape of your implants. Your surgeon is in the best position to answer these.

usually remain stable, as they are designed to stay where put or you have problems with rotation down the road. It is emphasized to my patients that the upper poles are level... and yours appear that way.  So talk to your surgeon if any settling is anticipated at this point.  And if not, you will have some decisions to make.  If you like the upper pole location, a lift of some sort will be needed.  If you think you're too full on top, then your implants will have to be lowered in a revision procedure.

Greetings,At about one month after surgery, your implants appear a bit higher than you would like.  You might need to wait as the tissues continue to stretch and healing occurs.  Some surgeons employ a bra with tight wire crease support and loose cups, along with an ace wrap above to help hasten the improvement of your implant positions.Do see your plastic surgeon for his (her) specific recommendations regarding your post surgical implant care.Best Regards,
