Buffalo humps won’t respond well to CoolSculpting. Liposuction is the best way to eliminate a buffalo hump. Depending on your skin quality, you might need Ultherapy, too, to tighten the skin after the procedure. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has expertise in removing buffalo humps with liposuction.
Hi there,Unfortunately Coolsculpt is not recommended for this area. It is not FDA approved, nor would the applicator properly fit over this area. I suggest partnering with a local service provider to determine which options are best for you.
The normal CoolSculpting applicators, which use suction to draw in the fat to be treated, would not work on a buffalo hump because the fat there would not be drawn in to the applicator. It is possible that the flat applicator could be used on this area, but I have not done this and am uncertain how well it would work in that area. It is possible that SculpSure could be used on this area because the applicator just needs to sit on top of the skin. I have not tried SculpSure on this area so again, am uncertain of any improvement that could be obtained. The usual method that I use to remove fat from a buffalo hump is with ultrasonic assisted liposuction.
Coolsculpting is good for removing stubborn areas of fat, but I don't recommend it for improving a buffalo hump, because it lacks body shaping. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer
i doubt you could do CS there but liposuction works great and can be done under local anesthesia. you can see results immediately with essentially no down time
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, CoolSculpting is not approved for the treatment of subcutaneous fat behind the neck. I recommend seeing a plastic surgeon in your area to see if you are a candidate for a surgical alternative like liposuction. All the best, Dr.Michon
