Wear your compression garment as directed by your surgeon. When having tumescent liposculpture performed by a dermatologic surgeon, a compression garment is only necessary for the first few days. When liposuction is performed under general anesthesia by others, the compression garment needs to be worn much longer.Wear loose clothing for the first three months, while your body is healing. Please consult with the board-certified dermatologist who treated you if you are confused about your aftercare.
Thank you for your question! For my patients, I recommend wearing a specific surgical garment 24/7 for 3 weeks, then an additional 3 weeks at night only. At this 6 weeks point, my patients are able to wear whatever clothing they choose. I hope this helps!
Hello STL. The best way to reduce the risks of contouring problems and dents is to choose an experienced surgeon. Extremely tight garments or shaping garments should be avoided for at least 12 weeks!Good luck. Dr. Aldo
Generally, tight fitting clothing is not contraindicated after liposuction. Form fitting compression is recommended for several weeks after the procedure to mold and shape the liposuctioned areas.
I recommend following up with your Doctor about their after care protocol regarding compression and clothing. I have my patients wear compression for 3-6 weeks straight then overnight for 3-6 months after their procedure. For liposuction after care, I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Best, Dr. Emer
Dear STL1993,every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
My protocol forswelling is as follows: First stage garment to be worn 24 hours per day for one week. The first stage has clips Second Stage garment to be worn for 3 months In rare circumstances we will use a small dose of a steroid and/or a water pillFoams are great to after lipo, and can help even out the skin.
Every surgeon is different, but most will have you were a surgical compression garment for 2-6 weeks and then they will recommend a OTC garment to wear, like a spanx.Good Luck!
I am sure that your surgeon will go through all of this with you before surgery, but I tend to tell people to wait at least a month before wearing anything back cause dents or irregularities. You will also be given a garment to wear that should allow for a smooth contour. Typically people can wear underwear over days without any problem. Best of luck! Dr. Boschert
The most important thing to determine is whether or not you have a blood clot in your deep calf veins. You need to see a doctor or E.R. for this.Long term, it may be damage to the lymphatics, damage to the veins, both, chronic fluid collection or everything. If you cannot see your surgeon, find...
Liposuction should ONLY be done under tumescent local with the smaller cannulas for best results. It is not painful and is much safer than gen. anesthesia. You may want alittle iv sedation for relaxation and enjoy the new you. Don't worry.
Just like with a tummy tuck there is damage to the lymphatic system and a lot of times when we operate we can’t see the little lymphatic vessels but postoperatively they repair themselves and people usually don’t have any problems accumulating fluid afterwards. Occasionally they do and...
