I have lost 50 pounds so far, and I am planning on another 40-50, when is the ideal time to consult on a tummy tuck? (photos)

Thank you for your question and great work with your weight loss. You will get the best results from your tummy tuck if you are at your ideal and stable weight heading into surgery. You have two options. You can set up a consult now and meet with a plastic surgeon and develop a preliminary surgery plan. The surgeon will want to see you back in a few months, prior to surgery once you have met your weight loss goal, to finalize your surgery plan. Or you can wait until you are closer to (within 10 pounds) of your weight loss goal, or have already met it and then meet with a plastic surgeon and move forward with surgery at that time. Hi JLP1031, thank you for your question and congratulations on your weight loss thus far!  If you are looking to loose another 40-50lbs I would encourage you to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon now to discuss your concerns and surgical options but wait until your weight has stabilized before proceeding with your surgery.  Starting your search now for a plastic surgeon that you are comfortable with will be important and I have found that for many patients it also aides in the remaining weight loss because your goal is much more tangible when a preliminary surgical plan has been set.  From the photos you provided you appear to be a good candidate for a full tummy tuck and liposuction of your flanks to achieve a flatter abdomen and to relieve you of the skin envelope that is causing you discomfort.  I hope that you find this helpful and I wish you all of the best!
