My husband and I are going to the Keys for our 10th anniversary exactly 3 weeks after BA. My PS suggested the surgical bra definitely for the first 2 weeks, but he said it would help to wear it for up to 6-8 weeks. I would like to be able to wear a supportive bathing suit and different bra that would have a little less coverage for sundresses and tank tops. I want something supportive though. I will be keeping the surgical bra on at all other times to make sure I get the best look possible.
Answer: I would recommend speaking with your surgeon regarding a bathing suit top. I would recommend speaking with your surgeon regarding a bathing suit top. Every individual heals differently, therefore speaking with him would be ideal. Happy Anniversary.

Answer: I'm going on vacation 3 weeks post op. Any suggestions for a good bra/bathing suit? Hello! Thank you for your question! On average, a period of approximately 4-6 weeks on average is typical for wearing of a support/compression bra. Fitting for a bathing top that will have adequate support will be helpful, when not wearing your bra given by your surgeon. Submerging in stagnant water, be it bathtubs, jacuzzis, pools, lakes, oceans, etc. can certainly increase your chance for infections. I usually await the incisions to be fully healed prior to allowing for this type of activity. If you do have any wound issues or delayed healing, expect that you will be restricted from doing such things. However, I allow my patients to shower and clean incisions at 3 days postoperative. Use of sunscreen is also recommended to protect your surgeon from discoloration during this early postoperative period. Regardless, the answer will vary amongst plastic surgeons and you should discuss this with your surgeon and follow his/her instructions. Best wishes!

Answer: Bra/Bathing Suit Choice 3 Weeks After Breast Augmentation Congratulations on your anniversary! Because your plastic surgeon recommended that you wear the surgical bra up to 6-8 weeks after surgery, you should ask him if wearing a bathing suit and different bra would compromise the result. Sometimes implants need prolonged support if the tissues are lax. In my own practice, after the early period of recovery, my only restriction is no underwire bras until 6 weeks after surgery. But occasionally I have a patient for whom I alter those directions for a specific reason. So check with your plastic surgeon.Have fun in the Keys!

Answer: I'm going on vacation 3 weeks post op. Any suggestions for a good bra/bathing suit? Thank you for your question. Of course it would be important for you follow the specific advice of your plastic surgeon following her breast augmentation. The Z bra is one that many patients find very useful after breast augmentation. In terms of a bathing suit in my opinion the most important thing is to make sure that your postoperative incisions are totally blocked from any sun exposure.
