Answer: Can I have a tummy tuck after having gallbladder surgery? Yes, assuming you are a good candidate for surgery, you should be able to proceed. Timing is best discussed with the surgeons involved with your care. They will know how you are doing (and whether or not you have experience any complications).Generally speaking, the “ideal” patient for tummy tuck surgery is one who has completed pregnancies, is psycho socially/emotionally/financially stable, has an excellent social support system surrounding him/her, is capable of arranging enough recovery time, does not smoke and who has reached a long-term stable weight. Keep in mind, that it is a major operation, associated with a significant physical (and often emotional) recovery period. Having enough help/support at home for yourself and any dependents will be important part of the planning process. Answer: Abdominoplasty and Gall bladder surgery Since you are having an endoscopic surgery, your abdominoplasty can be performed with the same level of risk that you would have had if you did not have your gallbladder removed. In the past, gallbladders were removed through long oblique incisions below the ribs in the upper right portion of the abdomen. This INCISION could impact the blood supply of the abdominal skin and lead to an increased risk of wound healing problems after abdominoplasty. With the poke-type incisions from an endoscopic cholecystectomy, there is no impact on the blood supply of the abdominal wall. You would, of course, want to heal from your gallbladder operation before the abdominoplasty. I would tell you to wait three months. That's a standard answer for typical healing time.
